Anu Mahmud is the pen name of Dr. M. Mahmudur Rahman who is a member of Bangladesh Civil Service Administration. He is a Joint Secretary of the Government and he is now the Director General in the Prime Minister?s Office of the People?s Republic of Bangladesh. He received his BA (Hons.) and MA degrees in Economics from the University of Dhaka and acquired his Ph.D on ?Good Governance and e-Governance : Combat Corruption in Bangladesh? under the Department of Politics and Government of Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka. He is an economist and has many books to his credit on Socio-Economic related research and other different issues on literature and culture. He is an economic analyst and writes extensively on socio-economic issues in English and Bengali dailies. He has visited countries like India, Pakistan, Japan, Singapore, Iran, Qatar, Switzerland, France, Vietnam, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Philippine, Saudi Arabia, USA, Italy and Mizoram (India) to attend seminars and on study tours. He has also lead the Bangladesh delegation to the International Book Fair, Kolkata (India) in 2008 & 2009 and presented the keynote paper at the seminar on ?Bangladesh Day? arranged by the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, Kolkata on the following issues : 1. Books for peace in SAARC Region in 2008. 2. Flow of Modern Bengali Literature : context to Bangladesh in 2009.He is the second son of Majibar Rahman Talukder, a prominent politician of South Bengal and a former Member of Parliament (MP) and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Land.
