Syed Shamsul Haq / সৈয়দ শামসুল হক

Syed Shamsul Haq (1935) is a most prolific and versatile writer of Bangladesh. He writes poetry, plays, novels and essays. Since 1954 he has published twenty seven volumes of poetry, sixteen plays (including seven verse-plays), nine novels, fifty seven novellas, six collections of short stories. Among his major works are : Anupam Din, Khelaram Khele Ja, Nishiddha Loban, Ek Jubakar Chhayapath, Neel Dangshan, Brishti O Bidroheegan (Fiction); Rajnoitik Kavita, Nabhimule Bhashmadhar, Poraner Gohin Bhitor (Poetry); Payer Awaj Pawa Jai, Nurul Diner Shara Jibon, Earsha (Plays). For his contribution to Bangla literature as a litterateur Syed Haq has been honoured with Bangla Academy Literary Award, Adamjee Literary Award, Alakto Gold Medal, Swadhinata Padak and Ekushey Padak, among others. He is now Fellow of Bangla Academy
