Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Ataur Rahman khan, Haji Mohammad Danesh, Comrade Mohammad Toaha, Comrade Abdul Hoq, Comrade Shukhendu Dastidar, Comrade Deben Shikdar, Mashiur Rahman and many other leaders. He was also elected as a member of the secretariat of the National Awami Party led by Maulana Bhasani in 1972. Mahbub Ullah has been teaching in the department of Economics, University of Chittagong since 1976. He is at present a senior professor of the department. He is at present a senior professor of the department. He is also a member of the Revenue Reform Commission appointed by the Government of Bangladesh in 2002. He was Dean of the Faculty of Social Science of the University of Chittagong. He was the first Pro Vice Chancellor of National University.
Mahbub Ullah, a Ph.D. in economics studied at the Dhaka University, Boston University and Jawaharlal Nehru University. He was associated with research programmes of internationally reputed research bodies like IDRC in Canada, ICIMOD in Nepal, BIDS at Dhaka, United Nations University and CDR in Copenhagen. He has a good number of research Publications at home and abroad. He has attended many international seminars and conferences including World Bank Conference on Development Economics in Washington in 1998.

Mahbub Ullah\\\'s fields of research interest include economics of renewable resources, environmental economics and economics of agrarian change. At the moment he is engaged in writing a book on two decades of change in rural Bangladesh based on intensive fieldwork.
