Tolstoy in Bangla. This responsibility of retranslating in Bangla has been performed by famous poet & children’s Litterature Mahboob Sadiq. In the both English and Bangla editions we kept the same essence of ‘Raduga Publishers’. In this context, we have been expressing our deep indebtedness to the Raduga Publishers, Moscow to Eduard Babaye for his preface, for English translation to K. M. Cook Horujy and for drawings to Mikhail Romadin. Really we have been feeling proud and expressing our pleasure as successfully we deliver two books separately in English and Bangla to the reader group of Bangladesh and mainly for the children of Bangladesh.
লেভ টলস্টয়ের জন্ম ১৮২৮ সালে রাশিয়ায়। তাঁর বাবা কাউন্ট নিকোলাই ইলিক টলস্টয় ও মা কাউন্টস মারিয়া টলস্টয়। জীবনের অধিকাংশ সময় কাটে ইয়াসনিয়া পলিয়ানায় মস্কো থেকে ২০০ কি.মি. দক্ষিণে। কাজান বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের আইন ও প্রাচ্যভাষা বিষয়ে পড়তে ভর্তি হয়ে মাঝপথে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ত্যাগ করেন। কিছুদিন মস্কো ও সেন্ট পিটার্সবার্গে অতিবাহিত করে যোগ দেন সেনাবাহিনীতে। ফিরে এসে লেখালেখি শুরু করেন। শিশুদের জন্য প্রচুর লেখেন। তাঁর লেখা পড়েই অনেক শিশু লেখা ও পড়া শেখে। তিনি ঈশপের গল্পের ভক্ত এবং গ্রিক ও রোমান পৌরাণিক কাহিনি নিজের মত করে শিশুদের জন্য রূপান্তর করেন। তাঁর উপন্যাস War and Peace-এর জন্যই তিনি বিশ্বখ্যাত। ১৯৬২ সালে সোফিয়ার সাথে বিবাহ হয়, তাদের সন্তান সংখ্যা তেরো। ১৯১০ সালে তিনি মারা যান। Tolstoy was born at Yasnaya Polyana, a family estate 12 kilometres southwest of Tula, Russia and 200 kilometers (120 mi) south of Moscow. He was the fourth of five children of Count Nikolai Ilyich Tolstoy and Countess Mariya Tolstaya (Volkonskaya). Tolstoy\'s parents died when he was young. His teachers described him as \"both unable and unwilling to learn.\" Tolstoy left the university in the middle of his studies, returned to Yasnaya Polyana and then spent much of his time in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. On September 23, 1862, Tolstoy married Sophia Andreevna Behrs, who was 16 years junior to him and daughter of a court physician. She was called Sonya, the Russian diminutive of Sofia, by her family and friends. They had 13 children, eight of whom survived childhood. Tolstoy died in 1910, at the age of 82.
