DATO' DR AHMAD KAMAL ABDULLAH is widely known as KEMALA, famous Malaysian poet, literary critic and writer. He was born on 30 January 1941. Since 2011 he is the Malaysia National Laureate and from 2008 the Fellow Scholar in University Putra Malaysia. He has published Purple Landscape (2009), 1000 Poetical Pantun (2011), Dharmawijaya: poet from Kampung Talang (2012), etc. He has twelve books of poems including the masterpiece 'Ayn'. Professor VI Braginslky has mentioned this book as a gem from Malaysia, and according to Lalita Sinha 'Ayncan be regarded as important as Gitanjali of Rabindranath Tagore'. As president of Numera Malaysia he has introduced Numera World Poetry Reading since 2012. He is the pioneer of the well known Kuala Lumpur World Poetry Reading from 1986 to 2006. University of Education Sultan Idris has awarded him title of Pujangga (Man of letters) in 2003. In 2001 Sultan of Selangor made him as knight (Dato') with DPMS. Besides poetry, essays, short story and talks he is enjoying himself with painting also these days. Since 1996 he is the Chairman of the Mosque Abdul Rahman Ibn Auf in Kuala Lumpur.

Since 1996 he is the Chairman of the Mosque Abdul Rahman Ibn Auf in Kuala Lumpur. আহমেদ কামাল আবদুল্লাহ মালয়েশিয়ার সমকালীন সাহিত্যের অন্যতম প্রধান কবি, লেখক এবং সমালোচক আহমেদ কামাল আবদুল্লাহ, কেমালা নামে অধিক পরিচিত। ১৯৪১ সালে ৩০ জানুয়ারি জন্মগ্রহণ করেন। ১৯৮০ সালে বি. এ অনার্স, ১৯৮৫ সালে এম. এ এবং ২০০০ সালে সাহিত্যে ডক্টরেট ডিগ্রী অর্জন করেন। আমেরিকা ইউনিভার্সিটি অফ আইওয়ার তিনি একজন ফেলো। ১৯৬৪ সালে শিক্ষকতা ছেড়ে যোগ দেন ইনস্টিটিউট অফ ল্যাঙ্গুয়েজ এন্ড লিটারেচারে। সম্পাদনা করেন একাধিক পত্রিকা। আয়োজন করেন কুয়ালালুমপুর বিশ্ব কবিতা উৎসব। মালয়েশিয়ার কমপেরাটিভ লিটারেচার এসোসিয়েশনের তিনি সভাপতি সেই ১৯৯৩ সাল থেকে। ১৯৮৬ সালে তিনি সাউথ ইস্ট এশিয়ান রাইটার্স এওয়ার্ড (ঝঊঅ) অর্জন করেন। এছাড়াও তিনি লিটারেরি প্রিমিয়ার এওয়ার্ড অফ সেলানগোর, ম্যান অফ লেটার সহ বহু পুরুস্কার অর্জন করেন। ২০০১ সালে তিনি সুলতান অফ সেলেনগোর থেকে দাতো পাদুকা মাহকোতা সেলেনগোর (উচগঝ) খেতাব অর্জন করেন। তার উল্লেখযোগ্য বইগুলো হলো মেডিটাসি (১৯৭২), তিমবাঙ তেরিমা (১৯৮৩), এরা (১৯৭৫), কাকটুস কাকটুস (১৯৭৬), আয়ান (১৯৮৩), মেডিটেশন এন্ড আদার পোয়েম (১৯৭৬), মিম (১৯৯৩)। পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন ভাষায় তার কবিতা প্রকাশিত হয়েছে।
