Waiting for the Pied Piper of Hamelin RIMES ON ANCIENT LOVE AND DISMAY
Rahman M. Mahbub has offered his readers another collection of poems Waiting for the Pied Piper of Hamelin : Rimes on Ancient Love and Dismay. The collection comprises thirty one poems of different sizes and moods. Life appears to his poetic mind with all its colours and sounds. And, the mixture of romantic passion and ruthless reality has made these poems remarkable and enthralling. The poems hint towards the poet’s fine sensibility and brilliant craftsmanship.
রহমান ম. মাহবুব। জন্ম ময়মনসিংহে। লেখাপড়া করেছেন জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ইংরেজি সাহিত্যে। অধ্যাপনা দিয়ে তাঁর কর্মজীবন শুরু। বর্তমানে তিনি গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইংরেজি বিভাগে শিক্ষক হিসেবে কর্মরত। ছাত্রজীবন থেকেই পত্রপত্রিকায় লেখালেখি। বিভিন্ন জার্নালে তাঁর সৃজনশীল লেখার পাশাপাশি অনুবাদ এবং গবেষণামূলক প্রবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। গণস্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রের মাসিক গণস্বাস্থ্য পত্রিকার তিনি একজন নিয়মিত লেখক। তাঁর প্রথম অনূদিত কাব্যগ্রন্থ ছাপা হয় ২০০৭ সালে। এরপর প্রকাশিত হয়েছে রংধুনর কান্না, অ্যা ডলস হাউস, জ্যাক অ্যান্ড টাফি, A Window to the Learners of English, Short Stories of Selim Morshed (co-author) Ges Waiting for the Pied Piper of Hamelin. [Rahman M. Mahbub was born on March 27 in Mymenshing, Bangladesh. He writes both in Bengali and English. He attended Jahangirnagar University in Dhaka, where he earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree with a focus on English Literature in 2000. To keep him above water he still continues working as a teacher in home and abroad. In 2007 his first book Shakespeare Theke Robert Frost: Kaljoyi Kichu Engreji Kabita, a book of poems translated into Bengali that had been originally written in English and caught the attention of the readers and critics. His second book Rangdhanu Kanna (2010) includes poems that speak of the poet’s romantic spirit as well as his awareness of the reality amidst which he lives. Besides publishing research articles, translation, essays and literary criticism in national dailies, magazines and journals, his other major works include Short Stories of Selim Morshed (Translation, co-author, 2009), A Window to the Learners of English (2012), A Doll’s House (Translation, 2014) etc.]
