I have gone through the articles which comprise Challenges in Bangladesh Politics: A Londoner's View and have no hesitation to state that all these are very well-written pieces. Dr. Abdul Malik is a prolific writer. Whatever he lays hands on becomes gold by the touch of his objective analysis and creative genius. Though an expert in the analysis chemical actions and reactions by profession, he has, by now, brought in professionalism in creative writing through sheer analytical depth and clear vision. His clarity of thought and objective analysis have brought in new light in this area. All the articles in the book were published in different newspapers, and are political in the sense that they are enmeshed with the basic elements of a nation's polity. They are however not political in that none smacks of any offensive odor for being one- side, polemical, intensely partisan or uncritical. -Emajuddin Ahamed
