Many Colours: From Aeschylus to Syed Waliullah
The reader will find in the present anthology of fourteen essays twelve dealing with twelve great writers of the past and the present, namely, the Greek Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides and Aristophanes; the Roman Seneca and Plautus; the Norwegian Ibsen; the German Brecht; the British Osborne; the Nigerian Chinua Achebe; and the Bangali Rabindra Nath Tagore and Syed Waliullah. Apart from the twelve essays on writers there is one essay that deals with the important eternal issue of peace. And, hopefully, readers, writers and translators will find the other essay entitled “Foreign Literatures: Their Influence on a National Literature” of some general interest.
